| Casket Price List Disclosure
The Funeral Rule requires a General Price List (GPL) to disclose that a Casket Price List is available. Casket prices may be listed either on the GPL or on a separate Casket Price List. If there is a separate Casket Price List, the GPL must state the range of prices for the caskets sold by the funeral provider, together with the following disclosure:
"A complete price list will be provided at the funeral home."
Outer Burial Container Price List Disclosure
The Rule requires the GPL to disclose that an Outer Burial Container Price List is available. The prices for the outer burial containers may be listed on the GPL or on a separate Outer Burial Container Price List. If there is a separate Outer Burial Container Price List, the GPL must state the range of prices for the outer burial containers sold by the funeral provider, together with the following disclosure:
"A complete price list will be provided at the funeral home."
If the prices for the outer burial containers are placed on the GPL, the following disclosure must be included in immediate conjunction with (directly next to) the outer burial container prices:
"In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the grave will not sink in. Either a grave liner or a burial vault will satisfy these requirements."
If there is a separate price list for outer burial containers, then this disclosure must be included on the Outer Burial Container Price List. The phrase "in most areas of the country" may be omitted from the disclosure if applicable state or local law does not require a container to surround the casket in the grave.
